There’s nothing MTV loves better than kicking a dead horse, example: Road Rules vs Real World Challenges, The Hills, The City. Sure their bread and butter is reality television, but when they start forcing reality stars into contrived situations the point and interest for the audience dwindles.

MTV’s newest effort at keeping the same audience that loyally flaunted to The Hills should not be underestimated.

Peak Season follows a group of 20-something girls and guys through the drama and drinks of Whistler, BC. Sure, tailing snowboarders and snowbunnies doesn’t sound like it serves up that much entertainment, but after 5 episodes I am absolutely addicted.

Everything that seemed to connect an audience to shows like The City and The Hills is definitely present in Peak Season. The lovers, the internationals, the friendships brought together and torn apart by boys and booze. Even the fashion is there.

I will be deeply surprised if this show is not picked up for a second season. I mean, even The City got a second season.
